A harmonious, proportionate nose

A harmonious and proportionate nose

Rhinoplasty is the plastic surgery procedure that reshapes the size and contours of the nose, enhancing facial harmony. It can be purely aesthetic or functional (septorhinoplasty) to improve breathing. It is indicated for:

  • Dorsal hump or wide bridge
  • Bulbous, drooping, or asymmetrical nasal tip
  • Nose that is too long or too short
  • Post-traumatic asymmetries
  • Breathing difficulties due to a deviated septum

The goal is a natural result that integrates harmoniously with facial features, preserving personal identity. A distinction is made between closed and open rhinoplasty depending on the complexity of the case.

The journey

Stages of the treatment

The shape of the nose, facial proportions, skin quality, and respiratory function are analyzed. A photographic simulation of the expected result is performed.

Pre-operative tests: blood chemistry panel, ECG, anesthesiological consultation, and potential facial CT scan.

  • Duration: 2 – 3 hours
  • Anesthesia: general
  • Hospitalization: 1 night

Incisions are internal (closed rhinoplasty) or made with a small access on the columella (open rhinoplasty). Bone and cartilage are reshaped to achieve the desired form.

A splint/cast is applied for approximately 7-10 days. Periorbital edema and bruising are common and resolve within 10-14 days.

  • Splint removal: 7–10 days
  • Return to social activities: 10–14 days
  • Final results: 6–12 months

FAQ

In closed rhinoplasty, incisions and scars are internal; in open rhinoplasty, a fine scar is located on the columella, which is virtually invisible.

Can I have surgery if I have breathing problems?

Yes, in such cases a septorhinoplasty is performed, correcting aesthetics and function at the same time.

At what age can I have a rhinoplasty?

Generally after 16-18 years of age, when nasal development is complete.

Is the result permanent?

Yes, the result is stable and long-lasting.

Is the procedure painful?

Pain is minimal; more common is a sensation of blocked nose in the first days due to packing.
